Rose’s Garden

Wander through the wonderful garden of the local retired couple Mr and Mrs Spencer Rose in the banks of Castle Creek. To keep boredom at bay since they had retired, they totally transformed unusable and overgrown bushland into this beautiful, well designed garden area for us all to enjoy. This garden was included on Australian Open Garden Scheme in 1998.

Neville Hewitt Park

Also known as the ‘Bull Ring on the Boulevard’, surrounding the water tower provides picnic shelters, facilities and a children’s play area.

Rotary Park

On Fifth Avenue overlooking Castle Creek with a picnic shelter and toilets nearby.

Junction Park

At the southern end of the Boulevard through town 700m past the water tower, it has toilets, barbeques, picnic shelters, children’s play area, ample parking and a boat ramp to access water skiing and swimming in the beautiful Dawson.

Facilities are available at Junction Park, Neville Hewitt Park and Seventh Avenue.

 

Accommodation

Hotel Theodore

This is the only cooperatively owned hotel in Queensland.  Located 300m past the water tower and on the Boulevard it provides well appointed hotel and motel accommodation as well as modern facilities for conferences and entertainment.

Camping

48 hour free camping is available at Junction Park.

Police Station

Located on the Boulevard near the water tower.

Hospital and Ambulance Station

Located together on the western side of the Boulevard.

Theodore Medical Centre

Located in the hospital grounds on Ninth Avenue

Sporting Facilities

Tennis, lawn bowls, fishing, golf (grass greens), netball, touch football and water skiing are all popular pastimes. All clubs welcome visitors.

Education

The Theodore State School caters for the educational needs of our young citizens from preschool and is located on the Boulevard.

Senior Citizens

Theodore has one of the State’s most advanced Aged Health Care Centre on Dawson Avenue situated on the bank of the Dawson River. It caters for our senior citizens within its Retirement Village, Respite Care Centre and Frail Aged Hostel.
