Dawson Folk Museum

Located at the end of Second Avenue, the museum contains many fascinating historical displays and records of the early days of the town of Theodore.

Glebe Weir

Situated 28km off the highway between Theodore and Taroom, water skiing, sailing, fishing, camping, picnic and toilet facilities are available.

Tourism and Cultural Centre

Situated on Fifth Avenue, it features displays on the district, information, industry, local arts and crafts. Ph. 07 4993 1900

Isla Gorge

A scenic outlook on the Leichhardt Highway, about 37km south of Theodore on the Taroom Road, picnic and toilet facilities are available. The views from the outlook are spectacular.

Malakoff Range

For an outstanding view of Theodore and its surrounding district, turn right at the Malakoff Road sign just before the river, travel along the range and return to Theodore by the Nipan Road. About a 20km trip.

Dawson River

This beautiful river has many distinctive facets like the native wildlife, including platypuses, koalas, emus and Livistonia palms and Dawson River Blackbutt.
